Dry Verge & Dry Hip
Dry Verge & Dry Hip from Oakcrest Roofing
The verge is the edge of the roof at a gable end, where the tiles overhang the wall. On many houses it is finished with a strip of mortar that cracks, falls out and leaves the end tiles loose. Dry verge replaces that mortar with interlocking units clipped to the battens and edge tiles, closing the gap against wind-driven rain and stopping birds nesting under the edge.
Hips are the sloping external corners where two roof slopes meet. A dry hip uses a hip batten, a ventilated roll and screwed hip tiles, much like a dry ridge, with an end piece at the eaves to stop the bottom tile sliding. We fit both on new roofs or retrofit them to existing ones, and choose units in a colour that suits your tiles.

Aerial inspections
Drone roof surveys
Our drone roof survey and aerial inspection service provides an instant, efficient and safe way to assess the condition of your roof. Using HD drones, we capture detailed images and videos of hard-to-reach areas, identifying potential issues like leaks, cracks, and structural damage.
This non-invasive method reduces risks and disruption and results in accurate data without the need for roof ladders or expensive scaffolding. Ideal for residential, commercial or industrial properties, this service ensures thorough, cost-effective inspections every time.
We advise that you get your roof professionally surveyed every 2-3 years to keep up with any potential damage and early signs of wear and tear. If we catch minor repairs early, they will not become a more serious problem in the future.
